Losing the Tail [Zgubić Ogon] (2024-ongoing)
At first glance, they are just people in costumes. Furry heads, tails- everything very colorful. In a crowd, they look like a belated carnival, but when we look closer with a sensitive eye, something more becomes visible.
For several years, I have been photographing the 'Furries' community - a group of enthusiasts who create and embody anthropomorphic animal characters. Originating from the American science fiction fandom of the 1980s, this movement blends elements of art, communal expression and performance. The photographs depict people who, through their furry alter egos (so-called 'fursonas'), explore identity, emotions, and the desire for authentic expression, balancing on the thin line between reality and fiction.
